It's been way too long since I've done a Mission Possible post. It seems to me that the coupons have been a bit skimpy and the sales just so-so. Not to mention that here in smalltown Louisiana, the deals are definitely fewer and farther between. They do still exist, though, and even though I may not save quite as much or find quite as many big bargains, every little bit counts in the end--the more so when my shopping options are fewer.
This past week, here are a few things of note that I found:
I ran by Walgreens one afternoon, and grabbed a pack of the Carefree pantiliners on sale for $1.99, and they generate a $2 Register Reward, making them free after RR. I also got one of the Mennen Speed stick 24/7 men's antiperspirants for $1.99, and 4 bags of grated cheese at $1.50 per bag after in-ad coupon. On my way around the store I picked up several chapstick products, clearanced to $.75 and $1.19 for a multi-pack. It may still feel like summertime around here, but winter will be right around the corner so I may as well stock up while it's cheap.
The next day I was sorting through a stack of mail I had set aside, including several free samples I had received--and what did I find? A Carefree sample with a $1 coupon inside! Of course I went back to Walgreens to grab another of the sale packs--I paid $.99 after coupon and got another $2 RR to spend on other things I needed.
At Brookshire Brothers, I found a couple more bargains. Kraft bbq sauce, $.89--I had a coupon for $2 off any meat or chicken when you buy two listed Kraft products, which I used toward a fresh meat purchase. Oscar Mayer weiners were on sale, and I had two $1/2 coupons. I bought four packages, one to use this weekend, three to freeze. After sale and coupons discounts, they averaged $1.75 each. Chinet paper plates, $3.19, B1G1, less $2 coupon, making these $1.19 for two stacks of paper plates, or $.60 per package.
I know it doesn't seem like much, but every little bit that I can save is a benefit. This week there aren't any coupon inserts, so this is my chance to work on printable coupons, get my coupon binder in good order, and double check those weekly circular ads.
I'll be posting more this week on what bargains I find, few or many as they may be. Meanwhile, why don't you share your bargains this week? If you have a blog post, use Mr Linky, if not, just leave us a comment telling us what your deal of the week is.
Until next time...
