My next stop on my Sunday afternoon "shopping with intent" trip was Walgreens. I had $6 in RR (Register Rewards) from last week, my coupons, and I picked up a store circular when I went in the door. This is what I bought:
2 Coppertone Neutra Shield sunblock, $10.99 each, less 2 $5 printable MQ (manufacturer's coupons), this generates a $10 RR when you buy two, making these a net of $.99 each
Colgate Total Advanced toothpaste, $2.99, less $1 MQ, this generates a $1 RR, making this net of $.99
3 Mini-markers, regular $.59 each or 2/$1, there is an in-ad coupon making this $.19 each, limit 3
2 Kit-Kat bars, on sale 2/$1--this was a total last minute addition--the cashier was promoting these big time--when you buy certain specific candy, you get a chance to win a $500 Walgreens gift card (do you know how far that could go with coupons and register rewards??) All I got was a $.25 catalina coupon for more candy!
Total: I had $27.47 in merchandise, less $11 in coupons, less $.93 for in-ad coupon, less $6 in RR from last week, I paid $11.09, and received $11 in Register Rewards for next time, for a net OOP of $.09
Note: I may go back and do this same deal again if I get a chance, but I won't be able to use the RR from this trip to pay for my next trip, or it won't generate new RRs--at Walgreens, you can't roll the RRs on the same deal (use RR for one deal to pay for the same deal) You can use RR to pay for another RR deal, as long as it's a different deal. I could use these RR to pay for the L'oreal Revitalift deal that's running this week, then use the Revitalift RRs to pay for this deal again.
How are you doing on your "frugal shopping with intent" this week? Link to Mission Possible or see the Walgreens $5 Challenge at Keeping the Kingdom First.
Until next time...
