$5.98 Net OOPMy second stop on my Mission Possible shopping trip today was CVS. I had $5.94 in ECBs (Extra Care Bucks) from last week, my coupons, and the weekly ad circular.
My first stop inside the store was the "magic" coupon machine, where I received $1.50 off of Speedstick (handy since Speedstick is on sale this week) $1 off of Kotex liners, and $5/$30 ($5 off a $30 total purchase--the good thing about these $/$$ coupons at CVS is that you give them this coupon first, so the total can be $30 (or whatever)
before coupons! A good way to save some additional cash) I wasn't sure I wanted to spend that much, but decided to see what I could find that I knew I wanted, and see how close I was to the total before I decided. This is what I bought:
1 Mennen Speedstick Pro, on sale $2.99, less $1.50 CVS coupon (from the magic coupon machine!), $1.49, this generates a $2 ECB, making this free with overage
2 Kotex panti-liners, $1.49 each, less $1 CVS coupon, less two $1 MQs (manufacturer's coupons), making these free with slight overage
1 CVS pantiliner, on sale $.89, this generates an ECB for $.89 making this free
1 Colgate Max White, on sale $2.99, less $1 MQ, this generates a $1 ECB, net of $.99
1 Colgate Total Advanced, clearanced to $2, less $1 MQ, or $1 (and these are large tubes, not the small ones)
1 Listerine 1 Liter, on sale 3.99
1 Neosporin, $6.19, less $1 MQ, and 1 Bandaids, $4.19, less $.50 MQ, these are on special, buy $10 worth of Neosporin and/or Johnson & Johnson first aid products, get $5 ECBs, making these basically net of $2.69 & $1.19 each
1 gallon milk, $3.59--this was a mistake on my part, 2% is on sale $2.79 and I picked up the wrong kind
1/2 gallon chocolate milk, $2.99--pure indulgence
My total before coupons was $32.80; after coupons and ECBs from last week, total cash paid was $14.87, and I received $8.89 in ECBs for next time, giving me a net OOP of $5.98.

Mission Possible post below for more steals and deals.
Until next time...

Thats pretty amazing! I'm still trying to figure all this coupon business out and trying to balance being frugal with being prepared. I don't want a bunch of useless stuff in the house, but I want to be prepared and not pay top price, its a balancing act.
Amazing! I've just never been able to work up the motivation to do CVSing!
Manuela
Brenda,
You do have to maintain some balance--when I first started, I bought a few things that I'll never use--but I learned that lesson quickly-as long as I only buy useful items, and stay within budget, I'm ok.
Manuella,
I couponed for a while before I ventured into CVS! I started doing the CVS $5 challenge-an easy way to ease into it slowly!
