It's been awhile since I participated in the $5 CVS challenge, but I had a great CVS trip today that I wanted to share. It actually started last week--I went in on Saturday with a great combo of deals to do, only to find that two of my high dollar CVS coupons had expired the day before. Yikes! I had to do a whole new re-think, so ended up grabbing just a couple of items that I knew we needed, which included one Mennen Speedstick for my husband. One of the neatest thing about CVS deals, is that although they "officially" run from Sunday 'till Saturday, late afternoon on Saturday most of the "old" deals are still running, but many of the "new" deals are already running, as well. This week's deal of buy two Mennen Speedstick at $3 each, then receive a $3 ECB (extra care buck, good on your next purchase) showed up on the bottom of my register tape last Saturday as one purchased, one needed toward the deal, even though the deal didn't officially start until Sunday. I made an effort to run back by CVS this week on Monday, only to discover that I had left all of my coupons at home. It was a very bad week for me this week, in more ways than one! I finally made it to a CVS today, and this is what I bought:
1 Mennen Speedstick, on sale for $3
2 Colgate MaxFresh toothpaste, on sale 2/$5, less 2 $1 MQs (manufacturer's coupons), or 2/$3--this generates a $2 ECB, making this a net of 2/$1, or $.50 each
2 Dove Revitalift facial cleansing pads, on clearanced to $2.50 each, less 2 $1 MQs, or $1.50 each
I had $1 ECB from my spring spending, paid $8.81 cash, and received $5 in ECBs for next time, making this trip a net OOP (out-of-pocket) of $3.31.
