Mission Possible CVS 5/13

Yesterday I was a woman on a mission--Mission Possible, that is. My Mission, as always, was to take the resources I have to buy the things my family needs and can use, for as little OOP (out-of-pocket) as possible.

I started off in search of mouthwash--I bought lots of Listerine in the last few weeks at Walgreens, but unfortunately I left it all at home in Louisiana. I had already looked for some at one store, and they didn't have the flavors my family favors, so I knew I had a good excuse to head to CVS. Although there's no CVS in my smalltown hometown, I had managed to make to a neighboring city during the recent Aveeno deal, and had a $10 ECB (Extra Care Buck) burning a hole in my pocket.

My purchase of purpose--Listerine mouthwash, came to $9.68 (just a quick aside--why do different flavors of Listerine cost different amounts?) I needed a small filler to bring the total up to $10 so I could use my ECB. I thought I remembered a deal going on this week for Bayer Quick Release crystals, so I grabbed one of the circulars to check it out--sure enough, the small boxes were on sale for $2, but generate a $2 ECB, making this free-after-ECB--and best of all, I had a coupon in my binder for $1.50 off. So I paid $.50, and got a $2 ECB, making this a money maker of sorts.

Here is the breakdown:

Listerine Fresh Burst, $4.39

Listerine Natural Citrus $5.39

Bayer Quick Release Cyrstals, $2, less $1.50 MQ, or $.50

Total:
$11.68 in merchandise, less $1.50 MQ, less $10 ECB, total OOP (out-of-pocket) after tax of $.28

Until next time...

Wow, good deal! I really need to learn to shop these drug store deals better. We don't have a CVS, but we do have Walgreen's and Rite Aid ... and I can walk to Rite Aid, I should really start watching their circulars more often.

I like Walgreens a lot, too--Rite Aid, also, but for some reason I don't utilize their deals as well as I could.
